Synopsis:
Pedro Del Mar is the driving force behind his own record label and is also an internationally acclaimed DJ/Producer and radio host. Over the years he carefully built a rock solid reputation with his internationally known “Mellomania” radio show and his releases on almost every major label. With this brand new double mixcompilation “Mellomania 20” Pedro brings an energizing, high-class trance set based on the music we get to hear during his acclaimed radio shows.

The “Mellomania” series, with their wonderfully term-contradicting title and exotic covers, have been something of a Central European preserve. There they’ve enjoyed a following that started out cult in 2004 and has turned into a clockwork-regular CD pick-up for continental European trance lovers.

Review:
I have put together a written review for (CD2) the beach sessions which is the next part of this outstanding journey through Mellomania 20.

Although I had struggled to select a few recommendations from CD1, I am once again if not more so, struggling with CD2. The beach sessions has so many beautiful tracks that you just can’t help but love them all. The whole album has been an absolute honour to review, and comes highly commended from me to you. Here are my chosen favourites from CD2 with previews.

Pedro Del Mar – Aurora (Intro Mix)
A very relaxing start, crashing waves, tender piano pads and a soothing melody which breathes warmth. A perfect beach introduction which sets the atmosphere very well.

First State featuring Sarah Howells – Reverie (First State’s Pounding Club Mix)
I hardly think ‘Reverie’, needs an introduction as I am sure many of you know this track very well already. The vocals from Sarah Howells are emotionally charged, soft and delicate yet very effective. The subtle sweeps, piano pads and plucking synth work – attractive. The bassline delivers a punchy hook that drives the innocence along perfectly, making this track a winner on the dance floor.

Cerf, Mitiska & Jaren – Another World (Original Vocal Mix)
Another track that needs no introduction ‘Another World’, which features the incredible voice of Jaren. The hook is full of energy this time, constructing a catchy kickdrum, lots of crunchy percussion, sun-drenched synths and soaring lines.

Lustral – I Feel You (Album Mix)
A slightly different pace this time much slower to start, it’s not long before you are quickly absorbed by the alluring vocals, which sooth to the core. This track screams sun down to me, with its mild acoustic guitar strokes, wooden cupped percussion, cooling shakers and embracing bass.

Jose Amnesia featuring Jennifer Rene – Louder (Alex M.O.R.P.H. Remix)
If I hadn’t mentioned this one, I wouldn’t live it down. In my opinion Jennifer Rene has the voice of an absolute angel. A voice that seduces every inch from the second the first note is bellowed. A superb voice coupled with an outstanding melody, flawlessly constructed by Jose Amnesia, topped only by a remix from Alex the man Morph – No explanation needed right? sometimes the collaborations speak for themselves and this is one of those times.

Spark7 & Magdalene – Rebirth (Original Mix)
Putting vocals aside and concentrating on the melodic side of Mellomania 20, Pedro introduces Spark7 & Magdalene – Rebirth, a delicious combination of flourishing synths, heart-punchering piano, smooth lines and a meditative yet powerful bassline that foster the track along. It all seems to come together without any effort at all, yet creates a magical few moments to cherish for any listener. It’s incredibly beautiful and I highly recommended.

Cosmic Gate featuring Jan Johnston – Raging (Alexander Popov Vocal Remix)
A quiversome bassline, only matched by the seductive voice of Jan Johnston. A thumping playground of chunky beats combined with succulent synths, and lots of airy space make this a peak time classic.

Pedro Del Mar & ReOrder feat. Fisher – Reaching Out (Pedro Del Mar Mix)
The first thing you notice as this track unfolds is the rolling bassline, driven by a melodious hook. Fisher brings an overwhelming emotional presence which fills the melody with shiversome moments. The tight beats and soothing percussion fills the overall sound beautifully. Pedro Del Mar’s interpretation brings warmth and lots of resonating emotion.

Preview

Tritonal featuring Cristina Soto – Lifted (Album Mix)
A tremendous start teaming with harmonic beats and pulsating tones which become quickly consumed by a prodigious bass, nicely carving the pathway for Cristina Soto’s voice to appear. The vocals suite this melody with perfection, gently drifting in, out and around the hook as though intertwined rather than implemented. This clearly defines the superior highly polished production skills of Tritional. Excellent choice for closing down this extremely marvelling album.
