Grube & Hovsepian – Conviction

Artist: Grube & Hovsepian
Title: Conviction

The Original Mix: Kicks of with a chunky bassline that is met by a collaboration of loops and wooden percussion. The main melody is sweet, driven and uplifting however easily it defines and corrects the chunky bass to suite, preparing you for the main focus of the track. (2.22) Brings an intense breakdown that is enveloped by beautiful warming synths, illustrated tones and echoed claps that seamlessly wash over the whole breakdown. As we reach for the skies the track delivers an explosion of heaven before being met with the bassline once again. Finishing off you are gently eased in to the final stage which cleanses tranquility throughout your entire body. Resulting in a very nice original mix, which outlines the important elements before opening the doors for other Artists to cast their impression.

Skytech Stadium Mix: Skytech’s rendition offers a deeper feel, combining streamlined synths, with colossal stabs, and overwhelming looped kicks. He takes the main elements of the original and wraps them around a harder bass and a richer depth-ed melody, which in turn gives this remix a more powerful edge. It’s a very nice take on the original I must say, and perfect for the dance floor!

Klems Remix: Klem’s begins with a very minimal assortment of looped claps and thumps, which progressively expand as the track warms up. The main hook comes in very quiet and seems to disperse for a split second, only to be washed back in by the rolling bassline. The breakdown sweeps in slowly increasing the anticipation, before delivering an outstanding atmosphere that seems to pulsate throughout your entire body. I especially enjoyed the swift taps that nurture the melodies position with perfection. As we lead away from the breakdown the bassline then bats the melody back in to play whilst the addition of piercing synths, piano and plucks are incorporated to give the main hook a fuller effect. Finishing of Klems brings back the looped thumps, whilst injecting a symbolised finish. Which is simply gorgeous.

Basil O’Glue Remix: Basil hones the melody in such a way that it steps up to the challenge throughout the whole of the track. Synths were given a richer tone and additional details injected keep the overall melody warm and intriguing. This remix includes many subtle complexities, note the shaker that keeps the melody neatly wrapped whilst nestling rather beautifully within the main lead, and the ‘cupped’ percussion that seems to keep your focus before entering the tracks peak. As we head in to the breakdown you can hear the track exhale distortion, bending and warping the sounds around the uplifting melody in a very interesting manner. In addition a heavy grumble can be heard thundering it’s way in and out. Whilst the finish proceeds with a short pause that welcomes the main lead back in taking full advantage before being swept away.
