Massive Attack for Big Chill 2010

Massive Attack, MIA and Kelis are among the first names announced for this year’s Big Chill festival, the first since its tie up with Festival Republic.

The 16th Big Chill takes place on August 5 to 8 at the Eastnor Castle Deer Park in Herefordshire.

Massive Attack will headline the Deer Park stage on the Friday, with MIA headlining on the Saturday.

Other acts announced include Kruder and Dorfmeister Layo & Bushwacka! and Magnetic Man.

Melvin Benn, the managing director if festival Republic, which took majority ownership of The Big Chill Festival in September last year, says, “Since its early beginnings in 1994 The Big Chill has set a tone and a standard with the creation of Boutique Festivals. Many have followed but The Big Chill started it and maintains pole position.

“I have been a regular visitor to The Big Chill during that 15 years and it is with massive delight that I am now able to take it forward with Katrina [Larkin co-founder] and my Festival Republic Team. And take it forward we will.”

Larkin herself adds, “The confidence in my relationship with Festival Republic has meant I have pushed the creative boundaries this year to create a real life festival fantasy.”
